SAMPLE BLUEPRINT

2012 Acura TSX
OEM+ Stance Build

$4,000 Budget  ·  Daily Driver + Show-Ready

This is what a $49–$199 BuildPlug blueprint looks like. Every tier includes a complete, advisor-built plan — not a template, not a list of random parts.

Chassis: KN5 (2012 TSX)
Engine: 2.4L K24 NA
Build Style: OEM+
Budget Ceiling: $4,000
01 / STYLE GOAL

The Vision

Clean, intentional OEM+ street presence. Not bagged. Not crazy camber. Refined. This build doesn't scream. It whispers — loudly.

Think late-2000s/early-2010s Japanese aesthetic done right. The kind of car that looks like the factory spent another $8,000 on it. Show-ready on Saturday, daily-driveable Monday morning.

Period-correct fitment. Purposeful wheels. Subtle exterior execution. Every mod earns its place.

  • Reliable K24 — massive aftermarket support
  • Proven daily-driver chassis, easy to build around

  • Soft stock suspension — high and wallowy
  • Ugly 17" alloy wheels — wrong offset, wrong style
  • Alabaster silver paint — forgettable
  • Zero exterior personality from factory
03 / WHEEL & TIRE

Fitment Setup

Recommended Setup
Wheel Size 18x9.5 +35 offset Fills the TSX wheel well without rubbing. Flush to slight poke.
Wheel Options Work Emotion CR8i (preferred) or JNC Wheels RDX Period-correct Japanese forged aesthetic. Both period-appropriate.
Tire — Budget 235/40R18 Federal 595 RS-RR Good performance-per-dollar. Street use only.
Tire — Premium 235/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S If you drive hard or want the best daily ride.
Spacers 5mm front / none rear Factory rear hub bore handles it. Don't over-space the front.
Avoid: Random eBay "slammed" offsets. Wrong offset = fender rub, unsafe handling, and expensive fender damage. Know your fitment before you order.
04 / SUSPENSION

Suspension Direction

S1

BC Racing BR Series Coilovers — ~$800

The foundation. Adjustable damping, max 2.5" drop. Proper full-ride-height adjustability — set it right for the build, not for the parking lot.

S2

Swift Springs Upgrade — ~$400 additional

Add later once you've set your ride height and daily routine. Refines the daily experience without touching the height you already dialed in.

S3

Sway Bar Upgrade — Progress Tech 24mm front / 20mm rear

Reduces body roll in corners without making the daily ride harsh. Should come after coilovers, not before.

Alignment Spec
Front Camber -1.5°
Rear Camber -1.0°
Toe 0° all around
Do not slam below -3" from stock ride height on a daily setup. You will destroy bushings, chew through tires, and hate your own car. Budget $150–$200 for a proper alignment after suspension work. Non-negotiable.
05 / EXTERIOR

Exterior Execution

S1

Debadging — Free

Remove Acura letters from trunk and rear grille panel. Steam gun + dental floss + adhesive remover. Takes 30 minutes. The visual impact is significant — cleaner lines immediately.

S1

Ceramic Window Tint — ~$200

35% ceramic front / 15% ceramic rear / windshield strip. Transforms the look. Ceramic-only — dye film fades and bubbles. Don't cheap out on tint.

S2

Front Lip — ~$400–600

Spoon Sports replica or J's Racing style. Adds visual aggression without spoiling the OEM+ aesthetic. Install after coilovers — you need to know your ride height first.

S2

Window Trim Delete — ~$50

Black out the B-pillars and rear quarter windows with vinyl wrap or PlastiDip. Removes the silver chrome detailing that ages the car. Big impact, low cost.

S3

Respray or Vinyl Wrap — $2,500–$5,000

Deep gunmetal or chameleon wrap to kill the Alabaster Silver. Save this for last — do it once the build is locked in so the color matches the final vision.

06 / EXHAUST

Sound & Flow

S1

Invidia N1 Cat-Back or ISR Performance Cat-Back — ~$600–800

Deep tone, no drone at highway speed. This is the correct way to do exhaust on a daily driver. Full cat-back, not an axle-back tip.

S2

Header + High-Flow Cat — ~$800–1,200

Bolt-on power and enhanced exhaust note. Note emissions compliance for your state before pulling the trigger on a test pipe. Resonated cat pipe is the daily-friendly version.

Avoid cheap axle-back "rumble tips" that sound like a broken lawnmower at 2,000 RPM. You'll remove it in 6 months. Budget for the real cat-back once, sound great forever.
07 / BUDGET STAGING

How to Spend It

The build is staged so you never take the car apart twice. Each phase builds on the last.

Phase 1
Wheels + tires + tint + debadge
$500–800
Phase 2
Coilovers + sway bars + alignment
$800–1,200
Phase 3
Exhaust + front lip
$500–800
Phase 4
Paint correction or vinyl wrap
$2,000–3,000
Total Build Ceiling $4,000–6,000
08 / COMMON MISTAKES

What to Avoid

Every one of these is money wasted. They're common because the internet makes them look easy.

Don't buy wheels without knowing your offset

Wrong offset = rubbing against fenders, damaged paint, unsafe setup. Measure first. Always.

Don't slam it without an alignment

You'll chew through tires in 6 months and destroy control arm bushings. Budget $150–$200 for a proper 4-wheel alignment after every suspension change.

Don't buy the cheap coilovers

$200 coilovers leak, blow out, and need full replacement under a year. Meistec, Yupiter, and any unbranded eBay coilover falls into this category. Budget once, cry once.

Don't skip the alignment after suspension work

This one appears twice because it's that common. It costs $150. The tire wear from skipping it costs $600.

Don't buy random mods without a plan

Every part should serve the vision. Random mods create a car that looks like a parts catalog exploded. Expensive disassembly later to fix what the plan would have caught.

09 / FINAL VISION

Where This Build Ends Up

"This TSX walks into Cars & Coffee and fits right in with the $30k builds — without the $30k budget."

Subtle, intentional, and perfectly executed The car looks like it rolled out of a Work Wheels catalog Clean lines. Right fitment. Purposeful parts. People ask "what did you do to this?" — not "what is this?"
